It is often beneficial and easy to have your own father of the groom speech based on a quality template. Now, I don’t say that this template from this article is the best, but it’s a great foundation to what you might actually need (if you want to read more speech examples, click here)!
Before going forward, I would like to mention that this is only a template and you should change it accordingly, to meet your situation and style.
Short Wedding Speech Example for the Groom’s Father“Hey, dear guests! Welcome to Ben and Lisa’s wedding on this rainy sad day. Relax, I am kidding. It’s actually a warm day and I was thinking about sunbathing instead of sweating here with you. So, anyway, I am really thankful that you all came here and attend this wonderful event. I just feel so happy for Ben and Lisa that I can’t stop making jokes and laughing out of joy! But now, let’s take some things seriously. I guess you all know Ben, at least how he was in the last couple of years. As his father, I feel like it’s my responsibility to tell you all how proud I was with my son. I remember that Ben – as soon as he entered high school – would be bullied quite often, because he was not a bully himself, he was more of a sensitive guy who loves to be friends with everyone. I remember that soon enough things changed and he wasn’t bullied anymore. I was wondering what actually changed that, he might have beaten other kids or something, but he didn’t. He actually did the following: all the people who bullied him, Ben would be friends with them, being interested about their feelings and everyday lives. He helped these kids as much as he could and they began appreciating him more and more. They all said to Ben <<I love you, man! You’re the best mate I ever had!>>. It’s true! Love does change so many things! Now I know why Lisa chose to stay with Ben. Ben is so special as a man and Lisa couldn’t have made any better choice. Lisa, my dear child, I want you to know – as well as everyone here – that I loved your presence in my family since the very beginning of your relationship with Ben. I felt that you’re like a daughter to me, I felt that you bring light and happiness to our house because we all felt better when you were around. And I seriously mean that! I want to thank Lisa’s parents for raising Lisa and guiding her throughout her life, turning her into the woman she is today. It’s a wonderful achievement and I know a lot of parents would’ve desired such a wonderful girl. I want you guys to understand how complex yet wonderful love can be within a marriage. Try understanding each other’s needs. Women like shopping and men like watching TV and hanging out with buddies. Oh yes, that applies for women as well, they like spending time with their girlfriends. I just want both of you, Ben and Lisa, to understand each other’s needs and care for each other. Give yourselves the necessary amount of time and patience to be able to discuss all of what is ever bothering you. Attitudes like not talking about things or running away from difficult situations are not beneficial to your marriage and you should keep that in mind. Also, love in marriage doesn’t mean that you always want the same things and at the same time. Understand these differences for your own good! I would like to thank for all the people who helped us organize this wedding. It was quite long and hard, but it was worth it! Let’s now toast for the everlasting love of Ben and Lisa and their happy marriage!”
